Abeka Curriculum Disappointment

Visitor Review: I was so excited to use Abeka since I grew up on this in the Christian school I attended. I was so sad to realize it was not a HOMESCHOOL curriculum. It was a school curriculum.


For their homeschool version they use LOTS of busy work that is necessary in a classroom setting. Wow they kept the same long days, lots of work for Mom also to plan the day.

I am glad I only had one student at the time.

Everyone I know has had to alter the program and skip lots of the paperwork. I am extra disappointed because EVERY family that I know (except 1 family) that QUIT homeschooling used Abeka. Their excuse was it was too much work.

I wish Abeka would realize how bad that is for families who are trying use a good Christian curriculum and homeschool they are actually hindering them. There is no reason for them to not have updated their curriculum for MODERN homeschooling.

We know you don't need all the busy work at home. Or to give the parents so much work that they are drained.

Last year one of my best friends (that I warned) dropped out. She was using Abeka because her family was not supportive, and she was new to homeschooling. She lasted 2 years. The last year she homeschooled 2 kids and that did her in with the Abeka.
