Alpha Omega Academy and Our First Year of Homeschooling

Visitor Homeschool Review: In our first year of homeschooling, we choose the Alpha Omega Academy. We pulled our oldest out of school because she was extremely gifted and was not getting what she needed in the school that she was in. We tried everything to get help from the teachers and administrators first, but eventually felt that home schooling was the only option.

The Alpha Omega Academy was very flexible with us and let us start her start using the grade level materials for each subject that was right for her and not just what matched her age. They gave us record-keeping materials and issued report cards. They even provided us with extra materials like supplemental suggested reading lists and homeschooling help books that were wonderful for a first-time homeschooling family.

It turns out that the failings of the school system that we were in actually did us a huge favor, because we found a much better education option and a very supportive place to find help.

We still use Alpha Omega materials but are not currently enrolled in the Academy. For now, we are doing well on our own using a combination of LifePacs and Switched on Schoolhouse, but we may return to the Academy for high school!
