Key to Math Series Review

Key to Math Series Review:

The Key to... series of math workbooks is a hit in our household. We have used all the individual series (Measurement, Decimals, Percents, Geometry, Algebra, etc...).

We had used Miquon math for my conceptual, hands-on learner and were looking for a non-textbook based curriculum as we progressed beyond early elementary homeschool math curriculum. We did not work through an entire series at once, but worked through the lower levels of the basic series concurrently.

We saved all of the Algebra series for last.

The Measurement series (available in both English and Metric) contains lots of fun projects rather than just dry calculations. The Geometry series uses a straight edge and protractor as the basic tools to explore angles and shapes, so in a sense is still manipulative-based.

All of the books are self-directed, so parent input is needed only if the student is struggling.

We do supplement the Geometry series with some traditional proof-based geometry and the Algebra series with outside extensions, but in general have found that the Key to ...series provides a solid mathematical foundation without too much rote repetition.
