Her Math U See Curriculum Review:
My son started with a math workbook type curriculum, and seemed to be doing fine in first grade, but by the end of the year I realized that he had not fully grasped basic math concepts.
He became very frustrated, math became a tearful struggle and his self confidence dropped.
We purchased the alpha level of Math U See and this was a turning point for us.
The video and Teacher manual set the lesson out so nicely. The man on the video, Steve, is fun and friendly to the children. The course progresses real slow and allows for extra review pages as needed. Throughout we are told not to move on till we're mastered the work.
I can see my son is now thinking more mathematically and is a lot faster at getting his answers. He no longer needs fingers, but most importantly the other day he told me he loves math. He readily accepts mathematical challenges in everyday life now, and sees them as fun, not school.
I will start my Kindergarten daughter with Primer to give her a better foundation.
