Math U See

by Leslie Hammer
(Palo Alto, California)

Visitor Math U See Homeschool Curriculum Review:
We began using Math U See at the Gamma (third book) level. Initially, it worked extremely well for our visual/kinesthetic daughter.

When we reached pre-algebra, we ran into problems. Steve Demme, with all good intentions, has invented his own terminology for much of what he teaches, and this terminology is simply not used anywhere else.

The consequence was that we had to stop learning pre-algebra for a period so our daughter could learn the universal mathematics terminology all other mathematicians use (and assume your student will know). We therefore made the decision to continue math with a standard math text.
