Saxon: Math Curriculum With A Good Solid Foundation

by Rachel S.
(Bowling Green, Kentucky)

Visitor Saxon Math Review: This is my first year as a homeschool mom. My oldest (5.5) boy has had a wonderful first year of schooling. We chose Saxon Math initially because we had a friend that used it, and I found it at a curriculum sale for a good price.

I honestly hadn't had a chance to even look at it before the sale. We skipped the "K" book and went straight to "Math 1". Once we got into the book and workbook, I was hooked.

The flow of the teachings are so smooth and sensible. This curriculum does such a wonderful job of laying out the basics of each new concept and building the concepts up in a steady fashion. I love how there is some focus on memorization of the "basics" which is vital in mathematics.

My 5.5 year old boy can add wonderfully and he speeds through the workbook pages. I look forward to working on Saxon 2 this coming fall. I trust that I will not be disappointed!
