The Story of the World Visitor Review

The Story of the World

Submitted by: Joy D.
From: Albuquerque, NM
Curriculum: Story of the World

Grade Used: K - 4
Date Used: 2004 - present

This homeschool curriculum, written by Susan Wise Bauer, is an excellent overview of world history, beginning with a simple explanation of who studies history and why. Each segment of history is re-told in prose form, allowing students to follow along as if they were listening to a story. Audio is available for each year of the series, as well as activity texts which include coloring pages, building projects and additional reading from literature or non-fiction "real" books. The text is fantastic for boys, especially, as Ms. Bauer focuses heavilyon war times. We did find it heavy on Western Civilization, and a little light on the Eastern histories.
