Tried Using Sonlight Curriculum

by Heather
(United States)

Visitor Homeschool Review: I really WANTED to like the Sonlight curriculum. I love the books and the ideas behind it, but the problem for our family was in making it work each and every day.

It simply took took much of my time to spend with each child every day and I became exhausted. It is a time-consuming program to learn to use and execute.

My kids are spaced apart too much in age to use just one Core program for all the kids, so I spent four hours with two of the kids and then had to do it again with the next child.

If you only have a couple of kids close in age, or older kids who can do it more independently, this curriculum might work well, but it didn't work for us. (BUT I did keep the books for reading...they are great!)

Multiple Cores is rough; SCAs can help
by: Luke Holzmann

Thanks for posting your review of Sonlight! Sonlight can be overwhelming if you're starting out with multiple Cores. I'm sorry it did not work for your family. May you find something that does!

If you have multiple children with a wide age span, I suggest you chat with a Sonlight Advisor before you select a Core: http://www.sonlight.com/SCA.html. These veteran Sonlight moms will be able to answer your questions and help you pick the best program(s) for your family!

All the best in your homeschool journey!

~Luke
