Used Abeka in Germany and Loved It!

Visitor Abeka Review: Hello, I was in DODDS (military/department of defense) military schools in Germany from K-12. My mom became a Christian and for 11th grade she put me in a private Christian school, which used Abeka.

Homeschool Resources

I hated it the first month of school and cried everyday due to the strict school and dress code.

I was not a Christian by any stretch of the imagination. However, within the first month, I loved it. I was challenged in every subject.

I was an excellent student beforehand but the Abeka curriculum pushed me to limits I didn't know I had as a student.

I wrote college level papers, I learned true independent study skills. I learned a value system which has stayed with me nearly 20 years later and now.

I'm use Abeka curriculum for my own child. I became a Christian while attending the school and obviously, it changed the course of my life.

I went back to DODDS for my senior year and was ahead of everyone. I was in AP classes never struggled. I took the AP exams upon graduation and came to college in the US and based on my scores, I did not have to take the customary freshman courses (English, social studies etc...) I graduated and continued to obtain my Masters and am now pursuing a doctorate.

I credit a combination of DODDS throughout the foundational years, ABEKA the 11th grade and my mom's expectations, all which honed my study habits and work ethic.

I'm modeling that now for my own child. I am allowing him to attend a great magnet school but I am supplementing it with Abeka in the evenings. He is only in the 2nd grade now so let's hope in 20 years he will be online writing his own rave review of Abeka!
